Women Economic Forum — Inspiring Passion and Innovation Through Sustainable Change
by Tânia Castilho and Alexandre Pereira
With the theme “Inspiring Passion and Innovation Through Sustainable Change” Portugal will be holding, in the Templar city of Tomar, the international Women Economic Forum, from 22nd to 25th March 2019. This is part of the annual global cycle of WEF conferences. This initiative is organised and promoted by ALL Ladies League, to create and stimulate strong and productive connections between women who are committed to bringing about constructive change in all areas of life.
In this interdisciplinary context WEF receives also men that support the cause of feminine leadership in all areas of life with open arms, so that both can grow and expand hand in hand, generating a powerful international networking opportunity that aims to expand their business opportunities and global influence.
This conference is a community-based event and therefore local stakeholders have been invited to collaborate. Tomar’s Municipality has taken the lead as organiser together with ALL in partnership with the Women Dream Weavers Project and Linda’s School with a team of volunteers who are wholeheartedly dedicated to this cause.
Together with the event, other initiatives will be running: the Youth for a Sustainable World NOW International Contest, that revolves around the Sustainable Development Goals. The night of 23rd March will be coloured by the Art in Motion Finds a Voice Fundraising Concert. Within the context of the event, the Creative Sustainability Fair will showcase goods and services that promote a sustainable life.
Align with the conference focus, Gaia Education will be participating in this event with different levels of engagement. It will bring its experience in the international action programme at the SDGs — Training of Multipliers, a partnership with UNESCO Global Action Programme. This global training programme provides educational tools, as the SDGs Flashcards and the Multipliers Handbook, to promote relevant conversations at local community level, with social entrepreneurs, changemakers, institutions and corporations compromised with the UN Agenda 2030 implementation.
It will be in this spirit of partnership that both organisations, WEF and Gaia Education, will be together, all the way from Portugal, welcoming the world and all of those committed with inspiring passion for a gender balanced world.
